God Poseidon Of the Sea’s

Poseidon is the god of all waters, fresh and salt as well as of the horses and earth quakes too, and is a brother to the great Zeus and to Hades. he is the son of the Great Cronus and Rheia. Poseidon was older then Zeus as well.poseidon140

After their father Cronus was over thrown Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon divvied up what would be ruled by them. Zeus got the sky’s, Hades got to be the ruler of the under world and he got this his watery domain.

His weapon was what is called the Trident which many has said that the pitch fork that is link with the Devil when held upside down resembles Poseidon’s weapon the Trident.

So even parts of Poseidon is linked to the bible

Poseidon was the the second supreme God of Mount Olympus but he would always prefer to stay in his water kingdom.

When sailors would go on a voyage they would rely on Poseidon to keep them safe and secure they would some times make sacrifices of horses to him to ensure their well off.
Poseidon lived in a palace made of the entire under water items such like coral and many gems. He rode in a chariot that was pulled by horses and other sea creatures.Poseidon32

Poseidon was father to many children. He was much like Zeus but was much forceful to have his way with women mortals and immortals. He even had his way with the Great Medusa Queen of the Gorgons and from that round about came the winged horse called 1051861433_85702eb281_oPegasus

He finally married Nereid, Amphitrite and they together had a son whom was known as Triton a half human and half fish (he was the first merman)

Just of many affairs that was done by Poseidon this one is the most known. He was bound and determine to have his sister Dementer. She had been trying to avoid him for a long time and in one case she thought she could avoid him by turning herself into a mare and hid in a herd of horses but Poseidon changed himself into a great stallion and found her then mounted her and in the result of this rape came the horse Arion.
So from that time on Dementer and Poseidon was known as the God and Goddess of fertility.

Just as Zeus, Poseidon used his powers to destroy what ever or whom ever made him mad or did him wrong. Poseidon was a very moody God so it was hard to tell what kind of Day it would be in the waters.
Although he did do many good deeds like with the Trojan War he was the biggest help to the Greeks at this time of need.

He and his siblings never really got along but they would pull together when they had too. There was many wars between him and the other Gods. Poseidon always wanted to be number one and it would boil his blood when another God or Goddess got some thing that he thought he should have and in results he would rain terror of revenge on them and the ones that turned against him as well.

Poseidon was also among many other things very greedy and had tried to take over cities that other gods and Goddess ruled he had a very bad side to him and was very hard to get along with.

Poseidon plays a very big part in the Greek Mythology that we will talk more about later on.
