After their father Cronus was over thrown Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon divvied up what would be ruled by them. Zeus got the sky’s, Hades got to be the ruler of the under world and he got this his watery domain.

His weapon was what is called the Trident which many has said that the pitch fork that is link with the Devil when held upside down resembles Poseidon’s weapon the Trident.

So even parts of Poseidon is linked to the bible

The Sphinx

The Sphinx

It has long been assumed that the Sphinx and the Goddess Sekhmet were constructed under the command of an Egyptian Pharaoh, but what if these two objects are much older than Egypt? In fact there is much evidence that points to these massive structures being around 13,000 years old. And as an interesting note Edgar Cayce, a well known psychic from Kentucky, came up with the same age for the Sphinx.

The Sphinx has the head of a human and the body of a lion while the Goddess Sekhmet has the head of a lioness and the body of a human being. Is it more than coincidence that the two “creatures” are the opposite of each other? To me it seems as though they had a direct relationship with each other, or at least they did in the minds of their designers.

What was the original purpose of these legacies and who were their builders? I think we can be fairly certain that the original purpose of the Sphinx and the Goddess Sekhmet …

Gilgamesh And Noah

Posted by Roses on November 27, 2009

In 1872 a man named George Smith who was an authority on Assyria was looking through a collection of Assyrian tablets which belonged to King Ashurbanipal in the 7th Century B.C. when he found a tablet which told a story of a flood that was strikingly similar to the Noah’s Ark story in the Bible. This tablet was written in Akkadian and is now known as Tablet 11 of the Epic of Gilgamesh.

The most remarkable point the two stories share in common is that of the three birds which were released to see if the flooding was over. In both stories a deity had decided to destroy man with a flood because of his evil deeds and in both stories a man was found who was deserving of being saved. The man was warned and instructed to build a craft to save him, his family and a certain number of animals.

The exact details of the stories vary but the basic story line is the same. In the Gilgamesh epic the flooding is much …

All About Catnip And Cats

Ever wonder about the effects catnip has on some cats and whether or not the tempting treat is harmful for your pet? Research has shown only about half to two-thirds of felines have a reaction to catnip while it has no affect whatsoever on the rest of the population. That is because the gene responsible for the reaction is inherited and not all cats possess it to pass it on to their offspring.

Many pet owners enjoy watching their cat’s natural high after ingesting or sniffing catnip. The reactions vary from rolling around on the floor, excessive pawing and uncontrolled friskiness. This behavior will last anywhere from five to fifteen minutes before wearing off. It is extremely rare for a cat to have a negative reaction, however, there are some cats who become aggressive and will fight after their exposure to catnip.

If you are unsure of your pet’s reaction, it is recommended you try a small amount on the animal in an isolated area to gage their reaction. Though part of the reason for

Most of us are familiar with that cute talking gecko on all the GEICO commercials. This little guy may be great at helping to boost car insurance sales, but can he be a good house pet? Absolutely! In fact, some would say that the gecko – particularly the Leopard Gecko – is the perfect house pet.

Though there are several species of geckos, the leopard gecko is the most popular pet choice for various reasons. These likable creatures are fairly docile, take up little space, require a simple diet, sport a huge variety of colors and patterns, and can live beyond 20 years, Wow!

Having a gecko as a pet means having a nocturnal reptile that enjoys warm temperatures between 70 – 90 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as the company of at least one other of its kind. Ideally, there should only be one male per 15 – 20 gallon tank.

When you put male and female geckos together, you’ll likely have to deal with more than you bargained for once the offspring come. That’s …

The Siamese cat originated in Thailand where they had long been one of the most popular cat breeds. It was believed that the Siamese cat could protect people and places from evil spirits and so they were often used in monasteries and palaces for this purpose. The Siamese cat was also believed to bring good luck to their owners.

In 1884 several Siamese cats were given to a British general. It was the first time this breed of cat was seen in England. Soon afterwards immigrants brought the Siamese cat to America. Today the Siamese cat is one of the most popular breeds of cats in the world and certainly one of the most recognized.

Not all Siamese cats are the same color though most of them have light colored bodies with darker colors around their legs, paws, tail and face. Their eyes are usually slanted.

Siamese cats are especially known for their communications with their owners. They truly enjoy interacting with humans and are very vocal. In fact, the Siamese cat is known as

Many things need to be considered when looking for a doghouse. You will need to think about the size of the dog, cost you can afford, what climate you live in and what materials were used to build the doghouse. Another thing you need to think about is the general appearance of the doghouse.

One of the most important things to consider is the size of your canine companion. Is the dog a pup? If so what will be the end result when it has finished growing? You may even need to buy a small doghouse now and then upgrade to a bigger size when your dog grows a little.

What about cost, not everyone has won the lottery so you need to find a reasonably priced doghouse in your budget. There are many doghouses on the market with many different prices.

Do you live in the desert or at the North Pole? If in the desert or somewhere warm you will want a doghouse with lots of ventilation, or in a cold climate you …

How To Deal With An Abused Cat

It’s not always easy to tell if a cat has been abused just by looking at it. Some abused cats may show telltale signs such as scars, wounds, or a limp while many will show no visible signs at all.

There are two different types of abuse; physical and mental. It is a terrible thing when a cat is abused in any way, but believe it or not, a mentally abused cat is much harder to deal with than a physically abused one. Regardless of how the abuse occurred the experience will leave the cat traumatized and distrustful.

If you are dealing with a cat that has been abused emotionally you will need a lot of patience. The cat must learn to trust you and this takes time. How much time it will take to make friends and establish a relationship with the cat will depend upon how you approach it, the cat’s age, the level of it’s abuse experiences, and of course it’s natural personality.

The key is to take your time with the …
